Over the past few weeks, we have been carrying out lots of activities based around the story On The Way Home, by Jill Murphy.
The children enjoyed listening to the story and then had lots of fun acting it out. Then, they came up with lots of insightful questions to ask the main character, Claire. Some of the children took part in role play, pretending to be Claire and answering everyone’s questions thoughtfully!
We have been retelling the story in our own words, using different language features used in the book, such as similes and alliteration. So far, the children have written their own individual beginning and middle parts to the story. We are looking forward to using our imagination to rewrite the ending this week!
