During careers week Nursery learnt all about being an engineer. We started the week by learning what engineers are and the different jobs they do. We designed a house together, discussing our decisions as we went along and importance of planning. The children had a go at designing their own houses, making engineering decisions. On day 3, the children took part in a playdough challenge to create a house from lolly sticks that could stand up on its own. The next day, the children worked together to design and make houses on a larger scale and dressed up as engineers. We then moved on to looking at bridges and the problems that they solve. The children had a go at designing their own bridge and worked together in groups to make large scale bridges that a car could drive over. At the end of the week we celebrated world book day. We had a lovely day reading stories that the children had brought in and talking about each others costumes.
