European Day of Languages – Year 4 Celebration!

On the European Day of Languages, Year 4 had a fantastic time celebrating the amazing diversity of languages and cultures across Europe – and in our own classroom!

We started the day by learning how to say “hello” in lots of different European languages. It was great fun practising greetings and trying out new sounds together! In the morning, we also enjoyed delicious pain au chocolat, a traditional French pastry, they were so yummy!

Next, we explored the flags of different European countries, spotting familiar ones and discovering new ones. We also listened to some lively French songs and even learned a traditional Spanish dance.

One of the most special parts of the day was when we talked about the different nationalities and languages spoken by the children in our class. Some children proudly shared words from different languages and shared that they had family members that lived in different places around the World.

We had a brilliant day filled with learning, laughter, and lots of language. Year 4 definitely showed that languages can bring people together!
