Last week, Reception enjoyed a week of learning all about Chinese New Year.
We listened to the story of the Great Race, where we found out about the animals that the years are named after – this year is the year of the dragon. We made Chinese lanterns, paperchain dragons and dragon masks, tasted some Chinese food, acted out the Great Race story and finally, on Friday, we became Chinese dragons, we worked in teams and made our own dragon dances (like in the parades we had seen in videos) and then showed our dance to the other teams.
We had so much fun!
