This term we have been looking at traditional tales. Over the past few weeks we have looked at a number of stories; while we were learning about Jack and the Beanstalk we did lots of fun activities.

We have grown our own Beanstalks in 2 different ways to see which grew the best.

First, we grew some in bags with a wet cotton wool ball and stuck them to the classroom windows. Next, we grew some in pots of soil with a castle in to see if the stalks would grow up to the castle.

We are really surprised that so far the beanstalk in the bags have grown the best. It has been really exciting to look at how much they have grown each day!

We also grew our own grass heads that have grown brilliantly in our classroom and make us look like we have funny green hair! Unfortunately, due to this weeks events not all of the children managed to take theirs home (Miss Horrocks is going to take them home and try to bring them back when we are back to normal!).

As well as being busy beanstalk growers we sequenced the story in different ways: using pictures from the story and then we visited the immersive room, climbed up a beanstalk and sneaked into the giant’s castle!

Jack and the Beanstalk got a big thumbs up from Snowdrops! 👍🏼
