Year 1 Art and class treat

This half term, Year 1 were focussing on ‘Woven Wonders’.

We discussed Is it art? Thinking about how art is not just something we draw or paint but can be something made from different materials and patterns.

We explored thread and had a try at plaiting, threading and knotting wool to make bracelets, we used paper weft to try weaving, and we looked at some pieces of art from different artists that had used these methods in their artwork.

As part of our end of term class treat, we used these skills again to complete some activities – we plaited some hair, threaded friendship bracelets and wove paper hearts.
