Year 5 Pine have been putting their leadership skills into action during an exciting and energetic PE lesson!
As part of our Skills Builder programme, we focused on developing the essential skills of Leadership, Teamwork, Speaking and Listening.
The children began by discussing what makes an effective leader and how important it is to communicate clearly, listen carefully and encourage others. We explored how successful leaders make sure everyone feels valued, included and confident to take part.
Working in small groups, Pine took turns leading different PE activities and challenges. They demonstrated their Speaking skills by giving clear instructions, Listening skills by responding to others, and Teamwork skills by cooperating and supporting their classmates.
Our Leadership skills were particularly important as the children took responsibility for organising activities, making decisions, solving problems and motivating their teams.
It was fantastic to see Pine stepping outside their comfort zones, growing in confidence and recognising that everyone has the potential to be a great leader!
