Over the past few weeks, 14 of our Year 5 and 6 girls have been taking part in our afterschool dance club, where they have been working hard to prepare for an exciting inter-school dance competition. Throughout the club, the girls focused on developing the Skills Builder essential skills of teamwork and creativity, and they demonstrated both brilliantly. They also showed excellent leadership with children taking turns to deliver the warm-ups.
The theme of the competition was rock, and the girls threw themselves into learning an energetic routine. From the very beginning, they showed fantastic commitment. They practised enthusiastically each week, often rehearsing during spare moments and at home. Their determination to improve and support one another was fantastic! They encouraged each other, shared ideas, and brought so much positivity and enthusiasm to every session.
Last night, the girls went to Middleton Arena to compete against 11 other primary schools from across Rochdale. They took to the stage with confidence, performed with brilliant energy, and pulled off some fantastic “rock faces” throughout the routine. The performance was truly incredible, and they should all be extremely proud of themselves.
We are absolutely delighted to share that the girls didn’t just perform amazingly – they won Best Overall Performance! This is an incredible achievement and a testament to all their hard work, creativity, and teamwork.
We are so proud of each and every one of them. They represented the school brilliantly and showed what can be achieved through dedication, collaboration, and a lot of fun along the way. Well done girls – you really did rock the stage! The girls will now represent Rochdale at the Greater Manchester Dance Festival in Wigan!
