Today marked the start of our school Euros football competition. 4 boys teams and 3 girls teams have played their first games, and will compete against each other of the next few weeks to try and reach the final.
Well done to those who took part in the KS2 Euros football competition last week. Next up, it’s the turn of KS1 girls.
Year 6 were join by Rev Kirsty and Rev Kristen, who are supporting us with our transition to secondary school. In the first of 3 sessions, they looked at the theme of foundations and how we can build solid foundations before we move on in the future.
Well done to our Year 5/6 tag rugby team who finished 3rd last week. They went through the whole tournament without losing a game.

Well done to all the children who represented St Luke’s at the Heywood KS1 athletics competition.
As part of our Maths investigations, we looked at following a set of rules to create patterns. We had to work out fractions, percentages, ratio, area, perimeter and symmetry.
Year 6 were visited by a fashion designer working for Under Armour. She talked about how textiles and computing helped her in her career, with textiles being the key subject to choose. Year 6 looked at what needs to be included in a high-quality CV and covering letter. They researched the skills and qualities they would need for a role they would like to hold in the future, writing a CV and covering letter to apply for an apprenticeship in that industry.
As part of our World Book Day and Careers Week celebrations, the children and staff at St. Luke’s all came dressed as what they wanted to be in the future. From doctors to dentists, pilots to rappers, Year 6 looked fantastic!
