Year 5 used their maths skills to complete a table containing the size of the planets and their distances from the sun. We quickly realised that we wouldn’t be able to measure these out in the classroom so we scaled the measurements down. We explored which fruits would best represent the planets from the scaled down measurements. Outside, we them ordered the planets (fruit) and plotted them according to their distance from the sun. We enjoyed creating an outdoor solar system with the planets orbiting around the sun.
