Year 6 have been working extremely hard to produce some excellent work in our English lessons. During our grammar session today, we looked at different ways in which we can improve a very simple sentence. The children worked in pairs to add in adjectives, adverbs, similes and relative clauses to make their sentence the best it could be. We went from ‘The boy stepped into the house’ to ”Cautiously and anxiously tip-toeing through the darkness, the innocent, unsuspecting boys (whose hearts were beating like a drum) stepped into the eerie, decrepit house, which hid sadistic secrets in the shadows of every room: screams reverberated through the hallways; walls painted in blood stretched throughout the darkness; a bone-crunching cold swept through the building and wrapped around Bubba and Spike.’

Amazing work – well done 🙂
