This week in Reception we have been busy exploring the story of Jack and the Beanstalk! The children have really enjoyed listening to the story, acting it out with their friends, and retelling the different parts in their own words.

We have also been very busy with some exciting planting activities. The children planted their own bean seeds and created their very own beanstalk scenes with Jack and the castle in the clouds! They were very excited to take care of their beans and to bring them home.

Throughout the week, we have been learning all about what seeds need to grow and stay healthy. The children helped to set up an experiment using beans in cotton wool to investigate whether plants can grow with and without water. We also discussed the importance of sunlight. The children made predictions and are looking forward to observing any changes over the next few days and weeks.

All of the children have worked really hard and made some excellent predictions about the planting.
