This half term Year 4 will be learning all about the history of Vikings so this week we had the chance to visit the Jorvik Viking Centre in York. The children were able to take a ride back in time to experience the sights, sounds and smells of Viking-age York. We were shown how to make coins as well as looking at different Viking artefacts including the skeletons of two real Vikings. In the afternoon we had the chance to take part in a Viking battle tactics workshop where we discovered some of the causes of raiding and warfare in Viking times as well as looking at, and holding, some of the weapons that were used. Both classes were very well behaved and we had a great day!
