Year 5 Pine have worked hard this afternoon. First they told me what they had been doing at home with remote learning and lots of children could tell me lots about the solar system already. We then discussed terrestrial and jovian planets and the children worked in pairs using information books to create some fantastic posters. After this, we used our maths skills to scale down the diameters of the planets and compared these scaled down sizes to fruits. We used these fruits to create our own solar system and had fun outside demonstrating how the gravitational pull from the sun and the direction the planets are travelling create orbits.
