This week, Year 2 took part in a Place2Be assembly all about self-efficacy – understanding that our words and actions matter and that we can make a difference.

We talked about how it’s normal to feel unsure at times, especially when things are challenging, and how believing in ourselves and each other can help us cope and feel more confident. The children shared thoughtful ideas about self-belief, learning that it’s not about being the best, but about knowing we have strengths and can keep trying.

We explored this through the story The Tortoise and the Hare, discussing why the tortoise succeeded and how he used his strengths and perseverance. Children also shared real-life examples of facing challenges and giving things a go.We celebrated our strengths with “I can…” activities, which came together as a classroom paper chain.

It was a positive and meaningful way for Year 2 to build confidence, celebrate one another, and remember that even when things feel tricky, we all have strengths to draw on.
