Willows have been learning all about Sir Francis Beaufort who made the wind speed scale for sailors. He was the captain of a Royal Navy ship and he made a scale based around whether it was safe enough to go out at sea or not.
We looked at the scale and then went outside to test the wind with ribbons, to see if they moved with the wind or not. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a very windy day so we scored it a 0 or a 1 on the Beaufort Wind Speed Scale.
We had lots of fun during our experiment as we ran around with the ribbons, making lovely shapes with them!
