This week we have been learning about South Africa, our focus has been the story ‘Handa’s Surprise’. In literacy we started by retelling the story using our own character masks. Handa put seven delicious fruit in a basket for her friend , Akeyo. However those cheeky animals took a different fruit and left Handa with a surprise basket of tangerines.
We spent an afternoon tasting the different fruits and some of them we had not heard of before. We enjoyed trying the fruits but some of us did not like the avacado.
We wrote down the different fruits that the animals took and used Fred talking to help us. We used the Phonics rhymes to help with our letter formation. We then drew a picture of our favourite fruit. We finished the week off by using a parachute as our basket and it was our job to get the fruits out of the basket.
