Week 1 of STEM Club and the children have been making ‘Crafty Rafts’. They had to design and make a model raft using just a piece of paper. Then they had to conduct a fair test to see which raft design could hold the most weight. There were lots of amazing designs and each group had to really think about factors which could affect how well their raft performed. We discussed how deep the water needed to be so that the loaded rafts wouldn’t touch the bottom of the tray, thought about how we should place the objects on the raft evenly and agreed what conditions there needed to be to agree on when a raft had officially sunk!
