Year 2 have had an exciting time in Design and Technology completing the Moving Monsters unit. We learned how to use linkages and split pins to make different parts of our monsters move. After exploring how mechanisms work, we designed our own unique monsters and decided which features would move, such as mouths, arms and eyes. Using card, paper, scissors and split pins, we carefully built our monsters and tested them to make sure the mechanisms worked smoothly, making changes when needed.

Throughout the project, we developed important Skills Builder skills including creativity, problem solving, staying positive and aiming high. These are the same skills used by engineers, toy designers and product designers, who design and create products that move and solve problems. Our finished monsters were colourful, imaginative and full of movement, and we are very proud of the hard work and perseverance shown by everyone in Year 2.
