This week the whole school are celebrating careers week. Year 1 were very lucky to have a visit from our caretaker Mr Singleton, who is a trained builder. He told us all about the different things he has built including an extension on his home, which he showed us pictures of. He then showed us how to mix cement, how to cut a brick, how to build a stable wall and how to ensure the wall is straight using a spirit-level. The children really enjoyed the visit and couldn’t wait to role-play being builders, back in the classroom. It was lovely to watch the children applying their knowledge by copying the skills they had been taught.
