This week the whole school took part in an assembly celebrating deaf awareness week. We learnt about what it means to be deaf, causes, how they communicate, what they may use/do to support them and what we can do to help. We also listened to a story about a fairy who is deaf, and watched and tried some British sign language.

Two of our Year 1 children, who have recently got hearing aids, were very brave and grown up. They came to the front in both classes and told the children what it was like to have them and how they have made a difference. They were also fantastic at answering questions from the children. Well done Elsie and Henry!
The children were also eager to learn some sign language, so we have put the BSL alphabet posters up in class for children to learn their name.
