Year 1 have begun their new Science topic on plants with an exciting bean experiment to investigate whether plants need water to grow. Over this half-term, we will observe and record changes over time, just like real scientists, and discuss why careful observation is important.
We started by drawing flowers and noticed many looked similar, which led to a discussion about how plants in nature are actually very different. To explore this further, we went on a plant hunt around the school grounds, looking for plants with lots of leaves, strong smells, and ones growing in unusual places. We also looked at the area which Mr Singleton has planted wild-flower seeds at the front of school so we can watch how these grow over the coming months.
It’s been a fantastic start, and we’re looking forward to seeing how our beans grow! 🌱
