This week, we have been focusing on developing our understanding of how to find a fraction of a number. We explored this concept through a range of activities, including using visual models and practical examples to help reinforce the idea of dividing quantities into equal parts before finding the required fraction.

To make our learning more engaging, we took our lesson outside, where pupils worked collaboratively in small groups to solve a variety of fraction problems. This encouraged teamwork, discussion, and reasoning, as children explained their methods and supported one another in reaching answers.

We also incorporated a fraction-based board game into our learning, which provided an enjoyable way to practise key skills. The game helped to reinforce pupils’ understanding of fractions while promoting strategic thinking and turn-taking in a fun, interactive setting.
