Today, we explored the characteristics of living things and thought about what all living things have in common. Our learning objective was to identify some of the characteristics of living things and ask questions to find out what living things have in common.
We began by learning about the different life processes and discussing how these apply to both plants and animals. We thought about how living things move, respire, reproduce, grow, respond to their surroundings, excrete and need nutrition.
We then worked in groups to investigate how each life process happens in plants and animals. Each group was given a different life process to focus on. We discussed examples, shared our ideas and worked together to find out how our chosen life process applies to both plants and animals.
At the end of the lesson, each group shared their work with the rest of the class and taught everyone about their life process. To help us remember them, we also created actions to represent each of the life processes. This made our learning fun and interactive and helped us to remember the different characteristics of living things. 🌱🐶🧠
