This afternoon, Year 5 have really enjoyed tasting a variety of Asian foods during our R.E. lesson. Children have been learning about Muslims in Britain today and the recent Muslim celebration of Eid-Ul-Fitr. We have been comparing the similarities and differences in the celebrations between Christians and Muslims. To gain a deeper understanding of the Muslim traditions during the festival, Year 5 were given an opportunity to try and taste various traditional foods eaten by Muslims during Eid. These foods were: Poppadum’s, Samosas, Kebabs, Mango Chutney, Spicy Yoghurt Chutney and Semeyah (Sweet Vermicelli pudding). The Kebabs were a super hit! Well done Year 5 for being brave and trying new foods, evaluating and giving your opinions.
