Year 5 have been busy this week researching the life and achievements of Charles Darwin.
Using iPads, the children worked in pairs to search for information. They explored important events in Darwin’s life, including his voyage on the HMS Beagle and how his observations led to new scientific ideas about evolution.
Using our skills builder skill of creativity, the children then organised their findings into detailed double-page research spreads, carefully selecting headings, facts, pictures and illustrations to present their information.
This research will help as we explore our class text, Darwin and Hooker, where we will learn more about Darwin’s friendship with Joseph Hooker and how collaboration played an important role in scientific discovery.
