This week Year 4 Maple have enjoyed our first Forest School session. We are linking our sessions with RE in the lead up to the celebration of Easter. Today we learnt all about the beginning of lent and why we celebrate with pancakes. We then enjoyed some pancakes by the fire. We learnt about different ways that Shrove Tuesday is celebrated around the world and discovered that the French celebrate with a festival called Mardi Gras. On the Tuesday (Mardi), people ate all the remaining fatty food (gras) such as eggs, butter and milk that they had stored in their homes. We took inspiration from the carnival and created our own masks.
