Year 5 enjoyed their forest school sessions today, despite the wet weather. We started the session by discussing the flora and fauna in the area. Everybody was given a piece of flora and kept it hidden. We then used our language skills to describe the piece of flora to try and find out who had the same. We then identified that we all had either Fir, Cherry Laurel, Maple or Holly. After this we made shelters. Everyone agreed that their shelter-building skills had improved from last week. We also learnt about the science behind a fire and set up a fire. Once the fires were lit, we toasted marshmallows and made s’mores.
