Year 5 had a fantastic time on their first forest school session today. We explored the area and discussed the flora and fauna in the area and completed a scavenger hunt. After this, our skill activity this week was using a bow saw and drill to create a forest school medallion. All the children completed this safely. The children also designed a forest game and thought about the rules involved. At the end of the session, we thought about the science involved in a fire and helped to light our campfire. Once the campfire was going, we used it to toast marshmallows. We reflected on what went well at the end of the session and all the children had a fantastic time and have begun to develop their forest school skills.
