Year 5 Juniper have had a fantastic time with an afternoon full of science to celebrate British Science Week. Children were able to research and present factual information about Nikola Tesla (a famous electrical scientist in history) by actively retrieving information about him and presenting it in a booklet. Together, Read more
Children loved using the walkie talkies today for British Science Week. They couldn’t believe how well they worked! We also looked at different types of Scientists and discovered that we don’t have to be a man with grey curly hair to be a Scientist…
As part of our learning for British Science Week, Year 5 have enjoyed learning about electrical connections this afternoon. First we used our post it note planning to plan our investigation. We deciding to investigate which materials are electrical conductors and which are electrical insulators. We thought about which variables Read more
In our science lesson today, Year 5 have been exploring with components of electrical circuits to learn about the flow of electricity and how it compares with static electricity. Children were able to identify the different components of electrical circuits and discover the conditions for electricity to flow which makes Read more
In our Learning for Life lesson today, children were able to understand the importance of food, water, oxygen, sleep and exercise for the human body and its health. We discussed some amazing facts about our bodies through a quiz and children then carried out research to answer their own number Read more
In Science, Year 5 Pine enjoyed investigating magnets. First we recapped prior learning and sorted objects into magnetic, not magnetic and magnets. We discussed how we can turn magnetic materials into magnets but also looked at how magnetic materials behave differently to magnets. The children enjoyed working in groups to Read more
Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed watching the science show this afternoon focusing on electricity. It was brilliant to see how much knowledge the children had retained since learning about electricity in year 5. A scientist came to school to shows lots of demonstrations, the children had to make predictions about Read more
Year 5 have enjoyed a science show all about electricity this morning. A scientist came to school to show us lots of demonstrations about electricity. The children really impressed us with their knowledge and they made some excellent predictions about which materials would be good conductors or insulators. Lots of Read more
We absolutely loved making smoothies! Most children loved tasting the smoothies, some didn’t like the lumps! Oops. We discussed liquids and solids and the difference between the two. They gave the smoothie a mark out of 5. Most said 5 out of 5!
We have been exploring our Christian value of respect. We understand the importance of sustainability (we’ve been learning about that in science) and wanted to use our art / craft skills to create an art piece for a display in the hall that encompasses all of our learning. Here are Read more
