Science Show

This week we enjoyed a science show. We learnt all about light and learnt more about sound. We were able to perform experiments and find out lots of new and interesting things. Here are some pictures

Planting in Kaden’s garden

This half term we have been learning all about plants in Science. This afternoon we went up to Kaden’s garden to do planting of our own! We planted tomato plants that were very kindly donated by one of our parents, into the large planting bed using a range of gardening tools. We then used cardboard plant pots and soil and planted different vegetable seeds to take home. We can’t wait to see all of our Read more

Spreadsheets

This half term in computing we have been looking at spreadsheets. We setup a shop on a spreadsheet on purple mash. We had to add a food item at the top and add a price next to it. We then used the add button and equals so the spreadsheet could then work out what coins we would need to make each amount.

SATs celebrations

On Monday year 6 enjoyed a full day of celebrating completing their SATs. All of the staff at St Luke’s are immensely proud of the children for their hard work, commitment and resilience last week when completing their tests. The children have worked so hard leading up to their SATs and last week were amazing. They celebrated with a trip to Queen’s Park and Dominos pizza.

P.E. Athletics

Over the half term our class have been developing our Athletic skills. Today we focused on Javelin skills. The children mastered the ‘pull throw’ technique and then practised it with the soft javelin. They looked for the signal to throw them and then again when it was safe to collect. Well done Year 3 for your excellent effort, participation and teamwork!

Planting

We have been reading and learning about the story Jack and the beanstalk. During forest school this week we have planted our very own beans. We are hoping the magic works and they all grow high up into the sky.

Visit to the Golden Mosque

Year 5 have had a great time this morning visiting the Golden Mosque in Rochdale. We arrived already knowing a great deal about the Islamic religion (from our RE lessons) and the guide was very impressed with our knowledge. We learnt lots of new things about Islam and were very respectful while looking at the religious artefacts, the great hall, the holy books and the decorative ornaments.
