Today we have been working on improving our understanding of online safety. we started by reading Tek the Morden cave man and then completely activities on purple mash to see what we had learnt.

Today, year 3 have been deepening their understanding of ‘online safety’. We watched a video about online safety and completed a task on purple mash. We then created a list together of how to stay safe and finally watched a clip of an online safety scenario and had some really good discussions about how to keep safe.
In today’s Learning for Life lesson, Year 5 have covered the topic of ‘Vaping’ and the health risks associated with it. Together, we discussed the severe health risks of smoking cigarettes and the addiction to Nicotine. We then compared this to vaping, to understand the reasons why people choose to vape and that there are potential health risks that are not yet fully known. Thank you to all of the adults who were able to join us this afternoon for our stay and play session. The children were very excited to have you in our environment and they have had lots of fun!
We absolutely loved making smoothies! Most children loved tasting the smoothies, some didn’t like the lumps! Oops. We discussed liquids and solids and the difference between the two. They gave the smoothie a mark out of 5. Most said 5 out of 5!
During art lessons, Year 4 have been learning different painting techniques. Today the children drew their own still life drawings using every day objects and then they painted their drawing using their chosen technique. Both their drawings and paintings were very impressive.
This week we are learning about people who help us. We have been learning about people such as doctors, nurses, fire fighters, vets and police officers. This afternoon, we have carefully planned and thought about a vehicle they might need. Children loved exploring the library today. They learnt about fiction and non-fiction books and went to go and find these types of books. We found lots of information in the non-fiction books. We also looked into the features that make a non-fiction book (contents pages, labels, photographs etc)
During forest school, year 6 have been making rafts. Today we went down to the river at Queen’s Park to race our rafts. We had lots of fun and the children worked very well in their teams.
Children in year 6 worked in groups and pairs to complete a number hunt, focusing on adding and subtracting decimals from TeachActive. They worked very well as a team and did not stop running. Well done year 6.
