We have been having lots of fun today for Number Fun Day. This morning we have been on a number hunt in the outdoor area. We have then been playing number games in the hall. Year 6 have had a lovely time outside with our mascot ‘Motty’. They played lots of games in teams focusing on decimals and fractions. Well done all.
This morning we have had lots of fun celebrating number day! We have sung number songs and we have played number games in the hall during our PE time. We played ‘corners’ and then we played ‘find your number partner’.

We have been learning about length and perimeter this week in Maths. We focused on measurements in millimetres, centimetres and metres. We then learnt how each of the units of measurement relate to one another and converted the units. We then applied our knowledge of measuring things in the class and each other! Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed watching the science show this afternoon focusing on electricity. It was brilliant to see how much knowledge the children had retained since learning about electricity in year 5. A scientist came to school to shows lots of demonstrations, the children had to make predictions about which materials would be a good conductor or insulator. Juniper have been discussing online safety in the classroom and working through some potential real-life situations to see how they would react. They came up with some very sensible suggestions about what to do when gaming online goes wrong.
Year 5 have enjoyed a science show all about electricity this morning. A scientist came to school to show us lots of demonstrations about electricity. The children really impressed us with their knowledge and they made some excellent predictions about which materials would be good conductors or insulators. Today year 6 have been deepening their understanding of ‘online safety’ by watching a video all about staying safe online and completing a quiz on purplemash. We discussed our digital footprint and how different apps online and phones and their settings can impact our safety when online. The children had some good discussions about how to stay safe.
This week is internet safety week. We read a book called ‘ Webster’s friend’ which is about a spider who has made a friend online but the person who he is talking to isn’t who they say they are.
