Dippy On Tour

Masterchef

Year 6 were set the challenge of creating a Masterchef-worthy dish that was also healthy and had a number of benefits for their bodies.   We we looked at the different food groups and how we can get many essential vitamins from fruit, protein from yoghurt and fibre from cereals.   Using these ingredients, the children had to create a dish that was asthetically pleasing and also tasty to eat. Library Visit

  Willows went to the library on Monday where we took our books back that we borrowed. We then had a story about bears and chairs (you wouldn’t believe how many words rhyme with bear!) and we chose our own books to take back to school with us. We had lots of fun and the children really enjoyed looking through to see which books they would like to borrow.

Roman Mosaics

Maple have learnt that mosaics are the art of decorating a surface with pictures and patterns made of little pieces of stone, glass or tiles of different colours. We have researched some famous roman mosaics, in particular ones of roman gladiators. We were amazed by how they were made and agreed that people who make these have a really special talent. Tenths and hundredths

Maple have enjoyed learning about tenths and hundredths this morning. They’ve learnt some new vocabulary: equivalent, numerator and denominator! They used their hundred square to represent different hundredths fractions and convert them into tenths.

Eating Healthy

This week we have been learning about how to be healthy and what is good to eat to keep our bodies healthy. We need to be healthy to be super superheroes! We researched being healthy and found out that eating lots of fruit can help our bodies be healthy. All superheroes must eat lots of fruit! Healthy Eating

We have had a fun week this week learning about healthy eating and what foods are good for building up our super hero powers! We were tasked with making a superhero smoothie that would be healthy, make our powers stronger and would taste nice all at the same time. Buzzy bees

We’ve been buzzy worker bees this afternoon- we made some delicious honey bananas. We have been learning all about how bees make honey. To make the honey bananas we sliced the bananas then drizzled honey over the top. We then squeezed some lemon on them and sprinkled a little bit of brown sugar and cinnamon over the top.
