Online Safety- Tek

This week is online safety week. Year 3 Birch recognised this by reading “Tek The Modern Cave Boy” This book is designed to look like an iPad and teaches the children how and why spending too much time on technology computer games, can effect your wellbeing and relationships with family and friends. We followed this by safe searching the meaning of highlighted words in the book.

Safer Internet day

On Tuesday it was safer Internet day so to begin the day the digital leaders shared a PowerPoint and talked to us all about keeping safe online. We then read our class story: The story is about what happens when different fairy tale characters receive a laptop and learn a lesson in online safety. Online safety week

Year 3 have been looking at ways to stay safe online. We read the book Tek about a boy who spends too much time online and we discussed the dangers of over using the Internet. We then put our online safety skills to the test and safety searched some words using the online dictionary. Here are some pictures of our online safety champions.

Shared lunch and learning

Thank you to all the parents and relatives who came to our shared lunch and learning this morning. I hope you have been able to was the glue away. The children really enjoyed having you work beside them and I hope you were able to learn something as well. Here are some pictures of our morning.

Number Bonds

This week we have been learning about numbers to 10 and their number bonds. We have been using a ten frame to help us work out how many ways we can make ten. Firstly, we practised using a ten frame and tried putting different coloured cubes inside it to check if there was always only ten. Dippy the Dinosaur

Maple have had a fantastic time this morning visiting Dippy the Dinosaur! We travelled on the bus to Rochdale Bus Station and then made the short walk to the council offices, where Dippy was to be found! Have a look at our photos to see what exciting things we got up to.

Safer Internet Day – Free to be…

As part of Safer Internet Day, we enjoyed listening to the story ‘Webster’s Friend’. In the story Webster is talking to a stranger online and telling lots of fibs to impress him. As a class, we discussed the dangers of talking to strangers online and what to do if we are worried about anything we see online.
