Last week in Bluebells, we have been learning about weight. We have been discussing and testing which objects are heavy and light. Titanic

We have been thinking about what it would have been like on the Titanic. We used the FANTASTICS to describe the beginning of the journey and at the end when it hit the iceberg.   Went went into the immersive room to help imagine what it would have been like at sea.        

Cake making

Ths week we have been learning about weight. For our snack yesterday we made cakes using the balance scales. The children had to balance all of the ingredients with the eggs. We talked about the importance of weighing ingredients and following a recipe and we used lots of language related to weight. The children said that their cakes tasted delicious!

Artwork in Year 1

In Year 1 we have been using different media to produce artwork. We used: charcoal chalk pastel pencil We had to decide which media was the easiest to use, which was the most difficult to use  and which one produced the best result. Have a look at us being artists in action!

Into the Dojo!

Year 4 had a fantastic morning learning some karate moves from Kaizen Do Karate. We turned the hall into our own personal Dojo and learnt: fighting stands, basic punches and how to break boards. The most important lesson we learnt was that we never practise karate outside the Dojo. Here are some snap shots of our morning.  

Karate For Concentration

This morning Year 5 have been developing themselves in a positive manner, thinking about self discipline and their use of common sense. The two sensei’s were looking for determination, self control, respect, discipline and focus. Everybody listened well and really enjoyed learning some new skills. “

On Friday, after all of the bad weather, we finally managed to have our Princess and the Pea day! We were all very excited to wear our crowns, tiaras and other character accessories! The children in Willows became the characters from the story The Three Little Pigs in our English lesson today. They acted out the conversation between the wolf and the first little pig when the wolf wanted to blow his house down. We worked on using expression in our voices. We have some fantastic actors and actresses in our class!

Artist pencils, crayons, pencil crayons and pastels…

  Oaks have been Artists today!   We have drawn pictures of our houses from memory. We used various media such as pencils, crayons, pencil crayons and pastels.   We voted as to which media we preferred to use and the pastels won!   The reasons behind this was because “we could smudge them to colour in”, “they were easy to draw with” and “they were fun to draw with.”   Let us know what you Read more
