Animals around the world

For our Geography topic we have been learning about animals around the world. We picked our favourite animal and have been researching about it. In our Computing lesson we have been learning ‘effective searching’ and have been finding out more information about our favourite animal using the internet. We are going to use this research to then write a non-chronological report.

Stuffed Toys

During the Spring 2 term, Year 5 Juniper have been working hard to create their own stuffed toys in Design and Technology. They created a template before cutting out their material and adding any appliques. They then used a blanket stitch to join their pieces of material together. Smoothies!

In DT today, Year 1 made the smoothies they have been looking forward to all half-term. They have learnt all about fruits and vegetables, learnt cutting and juicing skills, tasted different smoothies and tasted different combinations of fruit. Today, they chose their smoothie flavour and used all their new skills to make their own smoothies. Our favourite part was obviously the taste testing at the end!

Association for Physical Education Quality Mark with Distinction Awarded to St Luke’s

Gardening Club

In Gardening club this half term, we have been looking at what has grown in our planters along with making a sun catcher using natural materials around our grounds. We even found a discarded nest on the floor and loved examining this to see what it was made from. We planted herbs in the last week and all children took them home to grow at home. Hockey Competition

This year, St Luke’s hosted it’s very own hockey competition in our school grounds. We invited other schools to participate and all the children had lots of fun playing against other schools. Parents came to watch and they cheered everyone on! Well done to our hockey team, you played really well!  

Do you want to be a graphic designer?

Pine had a visitor to school this morning – a graphic designer! We heard all about what a graphic designer does and how you qualify to be one. We learnt about working for a company and working for yourself (Freelance). The children were really interested in what a graphic designer might design, for example, lettering, posters, packaging, motion graphics, branding…the list is endless! Tag Rugby Y5/6

Year 5/6 travelled to tag rugby at Mayfield for the Heywood competition. Game 1 versus Woodlands started very fast, with Nazar passing to Tyler for him to score the first try, leading to a 1-0 lead.
