Year 1 Art Week
Last week was art week at St Luke’s. In class we learnt about careers that involve art, learnt more about mark making and about the artist ‘Mr Doodle’. We also created our own landscape art using mark making. On Wednesday and Friday afternoon, we were very lucky to have a special visitor who is an artist. She told us all about her career and created Art work with us using the technique of printing.

Sports day – Year 6 Rowan
Year 6 participiated in sports day last week. We had so much fun moving around the different stations and then competing in races. Well done all.

#letgirlsplay campaign – Donations from Argyle North West
We have had a wonderful donation from Argyle North West Construction that have allowed us to put this event on for Heywood schools. This has enabled us to pay for the pitches, the trophies and medals, the new kits for St Luke’s and some new footballs. Arts week
We’ve had such a busy week and finished with a fun art day. We were very lucky to have the artist Justin Eagleton come into class to share some of his amazing art work. He then helped us to draw some birds and lions. Afterwards we looked at doodling and watched a video of Mr Doodle. Blackstone Edge Elevation
A group of children from Year 6 were invited by Breaking Barriers to embark upon an immersive journey along the scenic route along Blackstone Edge called Elevation. The children experienced a creative tour across the lands of Blackstone Edge, whilst listening to the Mother of the Moorlands through a set of headphones. it was a wonderful opportunity for the children to slow down, enjoy nature and listen to some stories come to life around them.
