This half term we have been doing all about animals and minibeasts. Last week we looked at ladybirds, we learnt about the life cycle of a ladybird and read some lovely stories.

One of the stories that we read was ‘What the ladybird heard’, in the story, the bad guys made a map of the farm so that they could catch the prize cow. We looked at maps and what detail might be included in a map and then decided we would make our own maps, we discussed how our maps would be of our outdoor area and that we would then decide where our ladybird would be able to make a home in the area.

We thought about if there would be enough shelter from the weather and prey, would it have access to food? Would it be warm enough? Would their home be stood on by children?!

We then went out to explore where would be the ideal location and decided on Kaden’s garden… while there we found some minibeast and bird homes and even some baby birds!

Finally, we made ‘messy maps’ the details that were included were fantastic, Miss Horrocks was very proud of our work!!
