On Wednesday, Reception took part in their weekly forest school session, we had so much fun!!
It was a little wet and windy but that didn’t stop us, we put on our waterproofs and set off for the forest.
We remembered the rules from last time and practised walking outside the fire circle, we are getting so good at this and being super safe while still having lots of fun.
As we are doing fairy tales this half term, we did some activities around fairy tales in the forest.
First, we thought about how Jack would have been feeling climbing up the beanstalk, we then looked to see how tall our trees are and compared them to how tall Jack’s beanstalk was… we all agreed that we would feel scared to climb up all that way!
Next, we went to find a stick that we thought looked interesting and all made a little story up about our stick; we had fishing rods, swords, magic wands, unicorn horns, reindeer antlers, oars etc…. all from what looked like normal sticks at first!!
At the end, we had our fire and toasted marshmallows. Mr Tomkins, showed us how to make a fire really safely and what is needed to make a fire. When we had finished, we discussed why we need to put out the fire safely, we then thanked the forest for providing us with our story sticks and fun and poured a cup of water over the embers of the fire and said what we had enjoyed the most about our time in the forest.
Thank you forest for a lovely session 🌿🌳🌲❤️
