This year, all children have been introduced to ‘Skills builder’. These are a set of 8 essential skills that are important for career success. Each half-term, the whole school will focus on understanding and developing 2 of those essential skills. This half-term, we are focussing on listening and speaking. Through drawing people with specific careers, taking part in listening activities and presenting our work, our introductory lesson in Year 1, explored why these 2 skills are important, how we may need them in various careers, stereotypes within careers and allowed the children to think about how confident they are in this skill.
