This week, Year 5 Juniper have taken part in a MoneySense workshop in relation to our finance week. A volunteer from NatWest bank came in to tell us all about the career that they have had working in finance and what their role is in the job that they do. We then carried out an activity where the children were able to work together in groups to plan a birthday party. The children were given a selection of scenarios to choose from and set a certain budget that they were allowed to spend to plan the party. The children had some excellent discussions about which area would be the best to spend more or less money. The children planned out what items they would need from food and drink, to party bags, to venue hire! The children worked extremely well together and were doing fantastic calculations to ensure they were staying within their budget. After the party planning and finances had been calculated, the children then presented their party to the rest of the class and revealed how much of the budget they had left, if any!
