We had a great time at our last Science club this week making volcanoes. The children used scientific vocabulary and predicted what would happen when the vinegar and baking soda mixed together and how big the explosion would be.
The children conducted the experiment and then discussed the science behind it. We found that vinegar and baking soda causes a chemical reaction when it is mixed together called carbon dioxide. The gas gets very excited and tried to spread out. There isn’t enough room in the container for the gas to spread out so it leaves through the opening causing a big eruption!
