This week we have been reading the story ‘Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson.
On Monday we came into the classroom to find a letter from the witch in the story; she asked for help from snowdrops to make a lovely smelling potion!
Throughout the week we learned about our 5 senses and made lots of potions to see which ingredients would use our senses. We also made wands to do spells.
On Wednesday we completed lots of activities that used our senses, it was lots of fun.
For Hearing we wore our eye masks and listened to some different sounds, working together to identify each one.
For Touching we put our hand in a bag to see if we could identify a number of objects.
For Looking we played a memory game, looking at the objects on a tray before one was moved and guessing which was gone.
For Tasting we had our eye masks on again and tasted some different foods; we had cucumber, carrot, banana, cereal and (our favourite) chocolate!
Lastly for Smelling we had to smell what was hidden in the covers pots, some of the smells were really nice but some were a bit smelly! We identified strawberry shampoo, lemons, tuna, toothpaste and garlic paste. It was very funny watching our friends smell each one!
At the end of the week we used our ideas from throughout the week to write a potion that used all of our senses, some were very funny and we worked really hard sounding out the ingredients.
