Year 5 have had a fantastic time during their Design and Technology cookery unit, where they have explored the journey from farm to fork.

Throughout the unit, the children researched a variety of spaghetti bolognese recipes, comparing ingredients and discussing what makes a healthy, balanced meal. They also learnt about nutrition and how different food groups contribute to a healthy lifestyle before designing their own eye-catching labels for their finished spaghetti bolognese.

Today, the children carefully prepared all of the ingredients, practising important food preparation skills such as peeling, chopping and measuring safely. They then headed to our Forest School area, where they cooked their delicious spaghetti bolognese outdoors. The children worked brilliantly together, following the recipe, developing their cooking skills and enjoying their tasty bolognese.

It was a fantastic experience, and the children were incredibly proud of the tasty dishes they created. Well done, Year 5 Pine!
