This term our topic is Julia Donaldson. Each week we will read a different story written by Julia Donaldson and our first week was Zog!
The children learnt what an author was and how we will be looking at the same author each week until Christmas. In the story, Zog tries hard at everything he does and keeps practising if he can’t quite do something, we talked about how he used ‘his rainbow brain’… or growth mindset to remember to always keep trying his hardest.
During the week, we made fire breathing dragons, dragon masks, built castles and made certificates for people we thought were trying hard, like Zog.
We also did some writing and matched pictures of the dragons to the correct colours, we worked really hard and enjoyed the story.
