This week, Year 5 have made an excellent start to their new topic ‘Stargazers’ by learning about the planets.
We began by creating art work for the front covers of our books, then we learnt the names of the planets and the order from the sun. We created mnemonics to help us remember this. We then worked in groups to research a planet that most interested us, created a poster about it, and presented it to the class. We also used our maths skills to scale down the sizes of the planets and their distance from the sun. We then labelled various objects as the planets according to their size order, before going outside to use our scaled down distances to position the planets around the sun and orbit.

This lesson was so fun and I loved how we got to go outside even though I got really dizzy at the end
