Today in our Collective Worship we have been learning about Black History month. This is celebrated every year in the month of October to recognise the achievements of black people, both past and present, who have made a difference to the lives of others. We’ve read about Rosa Parks, Barrack Obama, Nelson Mandela and Jesse Owens. We also linked this celebration to the book we are reading in class at the moment called ‘Journey to Jo’burg’. In it the African characters are living among white people in South Africa and being unfairly segregated.
