Today we have had our next Linking Project meeting day with our partner school, Ashfield Valley. Thanks to Touchstones, we had workshops creating shadow puppet workshops and a body movement workshop both were based around the book ‘The Crown’ It was so much fun meeting up with our partner school. We worked with our partner for most of the day as well as enjoying play time together.
For safer internet day 2024, Year 6 discussed ways in which they can stay safe online and promote online safety. Children disccused and explored the positivies and negatives of the internet and how the internet has the power to change our lives. Cross Country champion, Heidi, took part in the Greater Manchester Primary Cross Country Race on Saturday morning. She finished 1st for Rochdale, 15th overall out of 99 runners! We are extremely proud of Heidi. Please comment to congratulate Heidi on her amazing achievement!
This week, Year 1 have been super grammarsauruses. They have been learning about two different types of nouns. We have learnt actions for each to help us remember them, sorted words and images into proper nouns, common nouns or not a noun, played games to test our knowledge and completed some fantastic work in our books.
In art, year 1 have been learning about and creating 3D art. This week, in forest school, we created our own 3D sculptures, of an animal of our choice, using clay and natural materials. After working so hard in lessons today, we also had some free time exploring forest school once our sculptures were complete.
Juniper have been working on ‘finding the whole’ in Maths this morning. We have used our knowledge of finding fractions of amounts and our times tables to calculate the answers. We’ve drawn some fantastic bar models to visualise and calculate. These have really helped us in our learning.

This week, during RE, Year 6 have looked at two texts from the Bible (The Good Samaritan and The Crucifixion). Then, they discussed what kind of values were shown in the two texts and the purpose behind them. The children focused on Christian Values but also discussed how Jesus was ‘showing us a path’ in many of his parables. This week we have been learning about Healthy Eating. Yesterday we made a smoothie using a blender. We were all very careful around the blender and talked about safety. We tasted the smoothie we had made and tasted some shop bought smoothies to see which flavours we liked the most. They were very yummy!
We found this lesson quite a challenge when threading needles and tying knots in the thread. However, we persevered and we believed in ourselves! In the end, we did it! Look at our lovely work practising cross stitch and running stitch.
