Stuffed Toys

This half term we are designing and creating our own stuffed toys. The children have been working really hard on deciding the theme and shapes they will need and choosing and cutting the right fabrics pieces. This week we have practised using a blanket stitch. Next week we will be sewing our toys together and stuffing them.

Keeping Safe

This half term during our SCARF lessons, we have been discussing how to keep safe. First we discussed risks, hazards and dangers that we can come across and how we would class different situations. The children then acted these out. After this, we then thought about the word “Dare”. We thought about how we are often dared to do this we may not be comfortable with. Together we thought of strategies of how to deal Read more

Forest School

We had a fantastic time at forest school today. We celebrated the big garden bird watch and made some bird feeders and hung them from the trees. We toasted marshmallows on the fire and made s’mores. We also built dens and explored the trees and nature.

The 4 R’s

This afternoon Juniper have had a visit from Rochdale’s environment education officer. They have learnt all about the 4r’s – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recover. There was some great participation in the discussion and the children now know what goes into each of the rubbish bins we have at home. No-one has an excuse for not recycling now! We carried out some activities to do with landfill and where our waste goes. Well done everyone.

Soap sculptures

This half term during our Art lessons we are focusing on sculpture. Today we looked at the work of Barbara Hepworth. Then we sketched and planned our own soap sculptures. Take a look at some of our creations!

Year 3 Birch Shared Learning and Shared Lunch

Thank you to everyone who attended today. All children had such a good time and really enjoyed themselves. We hope adults enjoyed themselves too. We made oracle bones out of clay today! We used the equipment to engrave Chinese writing into our bones/turtle shells and then wrote our dates of birth to practise our Chinese writing. We then had some delicious lunch and all children loved sharing their lunch time with their adult.
